The #IronKing taps to the #RingGeneral, but make no mistake, BOTH MEN gave their all. It got a bit dicey towards the end and there was a small part of me that feared a Coffey win, but alas, WALTER prevailed! The defending champ eventually retained by making Coffey tap with a sleeper.
The Blackpool show is headlined by the crowning of the inaugural NXT UK Tag Team Champions and Pete Dunne versus Joe Coffey for the WWE United Kingdom Championship. Champion Pete Dunne turned back the challenge of Joe Coffey in the main event, only to be confronted by the debuting WALTER. History was made inside the Empress Ballroom as NXT UK held its first-ever TakeOver event. Now with things all square, Coffey kicked out of a top rope splash, which he beat Dunne with by the way, and then Coffey nailed WALTER with two lariats but the Austrian managed to kick out. The first NXT UK TakeOver hasn’t had the greatest build but all of that goes out the window now. 12, 2019: Dunne defends the throne, but WALTER emerges as a new threat. WALTER nailed Coffey with a lariat and it was his turn to get a ghost three-count, but then a new ref came out but Coffey kicked out at two. WALTER’s Imperium pal Alexander Wolfe then showed up and clobbered Coffey, but Ilja Dragunov came out to even the numbers. The crowd chanted “VAR”, which is a fair point.
